Since the forecast models are in pretty good agreement, I figured I'd make a post about the severe weather that looks to be heading our way for next week. There are 2 'systems' expected to move through - each of which will likely produce severe weather if model trends continue.

System 1 (Monday 9-6-10):
A low pressure system is expected to move towards our area from the southwest sometime late Sunday into Monday as well as an associated warm front and cold front. The big question right now with this system is if the cap will be breakable (just to review a cap is a layer of warm air in the upper atmosphere that stops thunderstorms from developing). If it is breakable, thunderstorms will likely develop with all modes of severe weather anticipated (large hail, damaging winds and probably a few tornadoes). Also, it is possible our area will see some late night severe storms Sunday night as well as the system moves into our area.
